Mind Control: Become the Boss of your Mind

Many people have very little control over their minds.  Thoughts are constantly controlling the brain with negative ideas that don’t provide peace or joy.  If you’re experiencing a life that is full of more chaos or negative emotions than you would like, it’s time to take a serious look at what’s going on IN your Mind.

Taking control of how your mind works is essential in progressing all aspects of your life. If you want to grow mentally, emotionally, or spiritually, become the boss of your mind using the following techniques:

Meditation
One of the most important tools you can use to take control of your mind is meditation. Once thought of as a practice related to spirituality, it is now embraced and exercised by people of all walks of life.  Meditation offers a variety of health benefits that include increased creativity, improved cognitive function and decreased anxiety and stress.

Meditation allows you to take a moment to stop and take in the moment. The string of thoughts that are constantly swerving in your head are slowly decreased, allowing you to control what kind of thoughts enter your mind.  With a wide array of meditative techniques to choose from, you won’t have to worry about becoming bored or unable to concentrate. Once you’ve found a technique that you feel comfortable with, add it to your daily routine and enjoy the benefits.

Daily rituals
Having a routine is one of the best ways to make a difference in your life.  Organization can lead to higher levels of energy, will reduce stress and will improve your sleeping and eating habits.  Overall, you will feel more positive having a clear idea of what you want to accomplish short and long term.  Activities that once required great will power won’t be considered strenuous anymore, as you will do them on automatic; therefore accomplishing more.

Forming healthy habits does not mean that there is no room for spontaneity.  Letting go, relaxing and trying new things can be a part of your agenda.  A good idea is keeping an organizer.  Writing down events as they pop up will allow you to manage your time smartly and be realistic with your schedule.  A great example is keeping your home clean, as the less clutter in the home, the more in control and liberated you will feel.

Positive thought
The mind is constantly lingering on past negative experiences.  Relating the past to the present reduces your happiness by increments as the years pass.  The brain is prone to holding onto negative memories, so start off by enjoying little things, the smell of coffee, a complement, even a cool breeze on a hot summer day.

Many techniques exist to assist you in making the transition easier and gaining more control of your mind.  Use positive affirmations daily and create a vision board that helps keep track of all the constructive activities you’d like to include in your life.

Gratitude also plays an important role in your train of positive thoughts. Being grateful for everything life has to offer makes your days more favorable. Even if you encounter a negative situation, dig deep and find how this experience allows for learning.

As much as you want to control your mind there is always room for letting the mind wander.  Did you know daydreaming can boost your intelligence?  Unplugging from everything around you, including those much anticipated goals, will give you a sense of liberty.   As Paulo Coelho once said, “You have two choices, to control your mind or to let your mind control you”.

Choose to control your own mind.
